Theodore Ted Clutz Military Medical Discharge Papers
Veterans Day
In 1943, Theodore Cohn served in the United States Navy and was hospitalized at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego for a serious and longstanding sinus condition. Medical records show that he had suffered from chronic frontal sinus infections for many years, causing severe headaches, nasal obstruction, and ongoing discomfort. During his hospitalization, he underwent surgical treatment and received extended medical care. Though his condition improved, it ultimately prevented him from continuing in active service, and he was discharged later that year.
His service, though cut short, reflects a willingness to answer the call during a time of global crisis. Like many who served, his contribution was shaped not only by where he went or what he did, but by the sacrifice he made simply by stepping forward. His story reminds us that service takes many forms, and that even those whose time in uniform was brief played a meaningful role in the larger effort to defend freedom.
