Veterans Day.

In front of a MIG 15 or 17:

MiG-15 (NATO: “Fagot”)
• Era: Late 1940s–1950s (Korean War legend)
• Role: Jet fighter / interceptor
• Why it mattered: One of the first Soviet jets that could seriously challenge U.S. fighters. It was fast, tough, and mass-produced.
• Typical use in the USSR: Air defense, protecting cities/bases, and training new jet pilots.

MiG-17 (NATO: “Fresco”)
• Era: 1950s–1960s
• Role: Improved fighter / interceptor
• What changed vs MiG-15: Faster, better handling, better performance at higher speeds.
• Why it mattered: It stayed useful for a long time and was exported widely (many countries flew it for years).
